Mr. Sam Byrd, President of ¡DiversityWorks! has more than 25 years of experience in working with cross-cultural and organizational development issues with a variety of public and private sector organizations. He speaks both English and Spanish fluently, is a dynamic speaker, and has extensive experience in dealing with diversity, human rights, and organizational development.

Mr. Byrd’s cross-cultural and organizational development experience ranges from providing training to top corporate and institutional personnel, to providing diversity seminars for shift and/or seasonal employees in light manufacturing, or food processing environments.
He has extensive experience in working in a variety of formats and settings, and with a wide-range of audiences. Past and current clients include private and corporate clients, hospitals and other health care providers, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, community-based organizations, and colleges and universities.
As a community facilitator, he has been a leader in various cultural and human rights groups, including the Task Force on Hispanic Education, the Idaho Committee on Indian Education, the Council on Hispanic Education, and the University of Idaho’s Diversity and Human Rights Committee.
Mr. Byrd currently serves on the Board of Directors of Albertson College of Idaho, the Board of Directors of St. Alphonsus Hospital Foundation, and on the Board of Directors for the Idaho Human Rights Education Center.
In an ongoing effort to improve the educational status of Latino students and English language learners (ELL) in Idaho, Mr. Byrd also serves as the director of the Centro de Comunidad y Justicia, a non-profit community-based organization. Since 1996, Centro has worked to reduce the disproportionate dropout/push out rate that persists in the Latino community; and to increase the number of Latino students who enter colleges and universities.
In March of 1998, Mr. Byrd was awarded the Larry G. Selland Humanitarian Award by the Boise State University Women’s Center.
In June 1998, he also received the national Howard Swearer Humanitarian Award by the Campus Compact in recognition of his work to improve educational opportunities for Hispanic students in Idaho.
In May of 2001, Mr. Byrd was a recipient of the University of Idaho President’s Medallion, which is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the cultural, economic, scientific and/or social advancement of Idaho and its people.
In May of 2003, he was awarded the Distinguished Leadership in Human Rights award by Hewlett-Packard. This award represents a strong recognition of the contributions that he has made to the cause of Human Rights for Idaho’s citizens.
