Human resources professional, diversity consultant and community activist, longtime Idaho resident Laura Alvarez Schrag brings a wealth of experience in business, the nonprofit sector and community activism.
Ms. Alvarez Schrag has actively demonstrated a commitment to making a difference in the community. She was the founding board president and is currently a board member of the Idaho Inclusiveness Coalition and past president of the Family Workplace Consortium. She has served as facilitator for numerous training sessions including Idaho State Police New Cadet Training, Idaho’s New Judge Orientation and Association of Idaho Cities conferences. She has been a panelist for Women in Business and Leadership, Silver Sage Girls Scouts career conference and keynote speaker at the Boise River Festival World Showcase and numerous schools in the Treasure Valley. Additionally, Laura assisted in the development of Hewlett-Packard’s Hispanic Outreach Program designed to address the student dropout rate in Nampa. In 1999, she was part of a team at Hewlett-Packard that received the prestigious President’s Points of Light award to honor outstanding volunteer service directed at solving critical social problems. She serves on the advisory committee for Adventure Island Playground, a project to build Idaho’s first universally accessible playground allowing children of all abilities to learn, play and grow together. She is a serves on the board of the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho. Laura is an active and dedicated member of her community.
She is a graduate of Caldwell high school and earned a B.S. in Management and Organizational Leadership from George Fox University. Laura has been employed by Hewlett Packard for 13 years where she is currently a Human Resources Manager.
